Dr. Rageshri Dhairyawan to Speak at the North American Refugee Health Conference 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Rageshri Dhairyawan, an internationally renowned doctor, researcher, and advocate for health equity, will be a featured speaker at the North American Refugee Health Conference (NARHC) 2025, exploring the topics related to racism against refugees in the health sphere.

Dr. Dhairyawan’s career exemplifies a deep commitment to addressing inequities in healthcare. A Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust in London, she also serves as Deputy Director of the SHARE Collaborative for Health Equity at Queen Mary University of London. Her clinical and research work focuses on improving health outcomes at the critical intersections of gender, ethnicity, and marginalized identities.

Recognized for her unwavering dedication, Dr. Dhairyawan was named a ‘Woman Changing the World’ on International Women’s Day in 2019 by iNews for her pioneering advocacy for racially minoritized women in sexual health. She continues to break barriers as the Chair of the British HIV Association’s Equity, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Action Group and as a medical board member of NAZ.

Dr. Dhairyawan’s personal and professional experiences have shaped her mission to amplify the voices of those unheard in healthcare. Her recently published book, Unheard: The Medical Practice of Silencing (2024), delves into the systemic injustices faced by marginalized communities, offering insights into how the healthcare system can evolve to foster inclusivity and equity.

At NARHC 2025, Dr. Dhairyawan will explore the pressing issue of racism against refugees in healthcare settings, shedding light on the systemic barriers that impact care access and quality. Her talk promises to inspire actionable change and provide valuable perspectives for professionals working to create a more just healthcare environment for refugees.
