Dr. Nehal Al Tarhuni Bsc DDS FAGD , has had a remarkable individual whose journey is a testament to resilience, dedication, and service. Arriving as a Palestinian-Lebanese refugee at just the age of 16, Dr. Nehal has since become a trailblazer in dentistry, a devoted educator, and a passionate advocate for social justice and equity.
Her contributions have been widely recognized—she was recently honored with the King Charles III Coronation Medal and the 2024 Schulich Young Alumni of Distinction Award.
In addition to her role as a part-time faculty member at Western University, she selflessly volunteers at the Wright Clinic, providing dental care to underserved communities.
Dr. Nehals commitment to service extends far beyond Canada. She has led dental missions to refugee camps, organized charity runs to support hospitals, and helped establish scholarships for underprivileged students and special-needs learning centers.
As a vocal advocate against discrimination, she has been a strong voice for justice. During a particularly challenging time, she served as Chair of the Canadian Palestinian Social Association of London, Ontario, working to ensure community support, fight anti-Palestinian racism, and foster intercommunity connections. Despite her demanding career, Dr. Nehal is also a devoted wife and mother of two, and her unwavering dedication to education, compassion, and ethical professionalism continues to inspire those around her.
